The D.A.N.N.Y Center Inc. is a 501c3 nonprofit organization that serves as a centralized resource for the community. Our goal is to enrich the lives of the youth in our community by serving as facilitators that provide education, career, and recreational opportunities for all youth who can benefit from them.
FREE PROGRAMS PROVIDED BY THE D.A.N.N.Y. CENTER:
Evening Reporting Center:
The Evening Reporting Center is a program that provides alternatives for at-risk youth, and utilizes three evidence-based curriculums to work with parents and students, which address underlying issues that lead to anti-social or deviant behavior.
Positive Action (PA):
Positive Action is a systematic educational program that promotes an intrinsic interest in learning and encourages cooperation among students. It works by teaching and reinforcing the intuitive philosophy that you feel good about yourself when you do positive actions.
The Strengthening Families Program (SFP 12-17) is an evidence-based prevention program for parents and children 12-17 in higher risk families. SFP consists of parenting skills, children’s life skills, and family skills training courses taught together in fourteen 2-hours group sessions preceded by a meal that includes informal family practice time and group leader coaching. SFP was designed in 14 sessions to assure sufficient dosage to promote behavior change in high risk families.
Aggression Replacement Training (ART)
Aggression Replacement Training (ART) concentrates on development of individual competencies to address various emotional and social aspects that contribute to aggressive behavior in youths. Program techniques are designed to teach youths how to control their angry impulses and take perspectives other than their own. The main goal is to reduce aggression and violence among youths by providing them with opportunities to learn pro-social skills in place of aggressive behavior.
